In September, Energy Trust joined the Albina Vision Trust Block Party to celebrate the grand opening of Albina One—a new multifamily housing community in the heart of Portland’s historically Black Albina neighborhood. This milestone marks a significant step toward restoring a vibrant community that has faced decades of disruption and displacement.

Albina One offers 94 units and is designed with energy affordability, sustainability and resilience in mind. The project received $52,500 in incentives for ductless heat pumps through Energy Trust’s New Buildings program, helping residents enjoy comfortable, energy-efficient living spaces. The building is grid-integrated and features a battery system that reduces energy demand during peak hours, lowering costs and supporting a more reliable energy future.

Tenants’ utility bills are paid by the building owner under one utility bill. This allows the building owner to respond more directly to demand charges, reducing energy costs and making the building more resilient and sustainable.

“Developments like Albina One show how energy efficiency and community partnership can create lasting positive change,” said Alicia Moore, Energy Trust’s director of DEI Services, who attended the ribbon cutting. “Energy Trust is proud to support projects that lower energy costs for residents and contribute to the long-term health of our communities.”
